I think this is important. I don't want this to be an apolitical site because it's a reflection of me, and I am very political. These are some sites and articles that I would encourage anybody to look at if they want a glance into my opinions. Do keep in mind that my endorsement of the work is not a wholesale endorsement of the author.
Anarchism
- Anarchy Works - This one I quite like, because it's a very simple introduction to anarchist politics / philosophy which is great if you don't have the time or patience to sift through long nonfiction books.
- How Nonviolence Protects The State - I used to have much more mixed feelings about riots and violent uprisings, until I read this. It's true - pacifism is a privilege not everybody has. It's called self-defense.
- The Abolition of Work - This is a bit of anti-work literature. It's been a bit since I read it, but the gist of it is simple. As long as work is work, it doesn't really matter who your boss is, how much you're paid, your conditions, etc., the nature of work is simply inherently miserable. There's more to it than that of course. Just read it, if you have doubts. I might as well also note that Bob Black is a piece of shit, but this work of his rings true to me.
- Ur-Fascism - This is a fantastic breakdown of how to spot fascist elements and movements. Essential reading for anybody calling themselves antifascist. HOWEVER the author is not without flaw and as a supplemental I also recommend this video essay which contains a critique of the text and the author.
- Why Don't We Just Kill the Kid In the Omelas Hole - This is a science fiction short story set in the city of Omelas conceived originally by Ursula K. Le Guin. It's a critique of accelerationism, but there's other stuff to it.
Queerness
- Against Equality - Gay marriage was never the main goal of queer activists. Our predecessors wanted to challenge the institution of marriage, not join it. Gay marriage becoming the hot button issue has done unspeakable damage to the higher aims of the movement. Its short-term importance has turned it into a consolation prize.
- Hot Allostatic Load - An account of the normalization of transmisogynistic violence in various 'progressive' spaces.
- I Am A Transwoman. I Am In The Closet. I Am Not Coming Out. - Self-proclaimed trans allies read this harrowing account of a trans woman's life experiences or hand in your badge.
Disability
- 10 Principles of Disability Justice - An introductory list of principles which inform my approach to understanding disabilities, both my own and those of others.
- Book of Lamentations - A review of the DSM-5, I don't want to give too much away, just read it.
My Writings
- The Communist Linux Man(ifesto) in 10 Steps - This is the first bit of political writing I've published on here, and I'm hoping it won't be my last. Bill Gates called Linux communist in the 90s, and while he was far from correct (in terms of the user base), the principles of FLOSS and communism mesh very well. This is for those who lie in the overlap, or are on the edge of it.
